Grace’s Senior Portraits at Sunset Lake and an Apex farm
Grace’s senior session was a total blast. I had a personal connection with her family since her mother, Tonya, is a friend of mine and is my fabulous insurance agent. Grace is such a self-possessed and mature young lady. She is being home-schooled has a part-time job at Channy Bridal & Beyond, a bridal shop in downtown Cary. I think it is very brave to work with brides, especially someone as young as Grace! She’s also a rugby player, like her dad. She plans on attending Wake Tech after graduation and has her sights on doing a study abroad program called Semester at Sea. I actually did Semester at Sea as well, so I was really excited to learn that she was interested in it. On Semester at Sea students travel by ship to 9 or 10 different countries and have a chance to explore each country for a period of 3 – 5 days, typically. On my voyage, we went to Cuba, Brazil, South Africa, Kenya, India, Malaysia, Vietnam, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Japan. So if Grace does go, she’s in for quite a trip!
We shot the first half of her session around Sunset Lake, where Tonya and her kids used to live. We included Grace’s brother in a number of photos and he arranged for us to do part of the session at his friend’s family farm in Apex along Pierce Olive Rd. The tattered American flag and giant hay bales make such unique backgrounds, so we were very lucky that he made that connection for us. Needless to say, I had a field day with this session!
