My absolute favorite portrait subject is one with four paws and a wet nose. I have two rescues of my own at home and I can't imagine life without dogs. I remember the names and tell stories about pretty much every dog or cat I have ever photographed. In-home sessions, studio sessions, portrait events with many dogs, they all come with their own stories and comedy. I embrace the challenge and privilege of trying to capture your animal as you know it, and I'll probably have a great time doing it! Since many pets are most comfortable in their own home, I am happy to travel to all areas of the Triangle: Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Durham, Chapel Hill and beyond!
Our animals are like family, and it is so important to have a beautiful memento of them. My husband had 2 dogs that he raised from puppyhood: Buddy Lee (The King) and Gus. Buddy Lee was a border collie and Gus was a bearded collie. He was so bonded with those dogs, especially Buddy, that he still gets choked up when he talks about them. A number of years ago, he had a portrait artist draw portraits of Buddy and Gus and those portraits hang in our living room. Man, I wish I could have met and photographed those dogs! At least our dogs, Clyde and Mr. Pickles, have been photographed. And yes, even the cat, Mr. Kitty, aka The Orange Menace, has been photographed. See those 3 clowns in bow ties? Those are ours. We adore them. We can't get enough of them. We're just pathetic animal lovers. Sound familiar?
