Raleigh Real Estate Agent Helps Promote Pet Adoption

A local real estate agent, Sam MacRae with Fathom Realty, recently hired me to photograph pets who were up for adoption at Second Chance Pet Adoptions in Raleigh.  Sam is helping to promote pet adoption through social media because animal welfare is close to her heart.  She also plans to use the images in her promo materials since it is a way for her to show her personality and values to potential buyers.

When Sam lived in Austin, TX, she ran a pet sitting business.  Sam started her business working with an established pet sitter in Austin, who needed help with her work load.  She helped Sam by giving her new referrals and any clients that were too large for her to handle.  Sam’s business took off!  She was off on her own within 3 months, and she continued to help the other pet sitter on the side.  She really fell in love with every pet she got the opportunity to take care of, crazy quirks and all.  She did the usual walks, but sort of evolved into a dog nanny!  She took them to appointments (i.e. vet, groomer, etc.), and cared for them overnight and during holidays. As she learned their individual personalties, she would arrange for doggie play dates.

Her favorite success story was a Husky/G.Shepherd, named Oxy.  He had been returned to the shelter 4 different times before he was 2, so he was not socialized or trained.  She spent 5 days/week for over a year working with him.  When they started Sam couldn’t walk him past fences with dogs on the other side of the fence, but by the time she left Austin, he had 3 best friends that he snuggled and played with.  She was so proud of him.
