Remembering McKinley – Pet Portrait Spotlight

I had the honor of photographing McKinley and Hailey, 2 adorable pups owned by Caroline, a veterinarian at Grace Park Animal Hospital. Caroline heard about me through Amy, one of the owners of Grace Park. Amy also happens to be one of my favorite clients!

Caroline contacted me back in November because McKinley had recently been diagnosed with cancer in her urinary tract system and she wanted to be sure to get some pictures done while McKinley was still feeling relatively energetic. She also wanted to include her other dog, Hailey, who is a retriever mix, like McKinley.

McKinley’s “multi-layer jowls” or as Caroline referred to them, “jowls for days” were so adorable. I loved her gorgeous coloring and wild “bed head” ears! Photographing her was a breeze because she was calm and had such a sweet demeanor.

To mix things up, Caroline incorporated some unique props into the shoot. McKinley had a thing for carrots, so Caroline bought a huge bunch of carrots for her to munch on while I shot. She also broke out the cheese whiz when it was time to get some silly candid shots with her sister, Hailey!

Sadly, McKinley passed away on 1/25/20. I’m sure that her family misses her terribly, but I know that they cherish these photos of her and all of the happy memories they shared. ♥️🐶
