Unique First Look on the Day Before the Wedding

Many people are familiar with the first look.  It’s a chance for the bride and groom to see each other before the wedding ceremony to have a (semi) private moment together.  You can capture beautiful and emotional moments during a first look.  Plus, seeing each other for the first time on the wedding day can be an emotional moment and for many people, it is more comfortable to do so in private.

I photographed a unique first look recently at Raleigh’s Historic Yates Mill Park.  The couple’s ceremony was scheduled the day after their first look.  Their ceremony was in the middle of the day, which happens to be the worst time to take pictures.  So, they thought it would be nice to do a first look the day BEFORE the wedding day and then have an extended couple’s session.  This gave us an opportunity to shoot in the best light (early evening) and it gave us time to go to several spots within the park and have a really relaxed and fun couple’s session.  Congrats, Kayla & Dexter!
